EIRÍ works with young people who are at risk of early school leaving and unemployment.

Out of School Programmes:

We work with West Clare Early Years to run After School Programmes.  There are six programmes for primary school pupils running at the moment in: Kilrush(2), Kilkee, Kildysart, Kilmihil, and Lisseycasey.  Each of these locations also run summer programmes.

We completed a Youth Needs Analysis for the most vulnerable 10-18 year olds in Kilrush.  Three priority actions were identified in the report:

  1. Increased coordination between key statutory agencies.

  2. Increased coordination between all organisations which provide services to young people in Kilrush.

  3. A sustained programme of Developmental Youth Work to be established in Kilrush.

As a result of this report we have:
bullet

Initiated the Kilrush Youth Service Providers' Network which aims to increase coordination between all statutory and community service providers.

bullet

Initiated a youth work programme with Clare Youth Service focussed on the most vulnerable young people in Kilrush.

bullet

Initiated a Youth Focus Group which coordinates supports for the most vulnerable young people in Kilrush.

bullet

We work with Kilrush Community School to provide supports for disadvantaged students that will assist them in remaining in school and maximising their potential.

bullet

We support the Kilrush Family Resource Centre to provide a school bus for primary school children in Kilrush to increase school attendance.
